Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure that removes excess fat from certain areas to improve the contour and proportions of your body.

Liposuction is usually performed on the abdomen, arms, neck, thighs, back, and buttocks.

What are the types of liposuction?

Liposuction may be performed with the assistance of suction alone or with radiofrequency, ultrasound, or a laser to remove excess or stubborn fat.

Am I a candidate for body contouring with liposuction? Is liposuction safe?

Good candidates for liposuction have stubborn fat deposits that persist despite exercise and a healthy diet.

Ideal candidates for body contouring with liposuction have a healthy body weight with elastic skin.

It is important to understand that liposuction is for body contouring and is not a weight loss procedure.

Liposuction surgery is safe in well trained, experienced hands. Ensure that you have your procedure performed by a qualified plastic surgeon like Dr. Raven Henderson.

Dr. Raven Henderson, MD will examine you and help determine which liposuction procedure will help you meet your goals, providing expert treatment and care throughout the process.

What are the anesthesia options?

Body contouring with liposuction surgery is typically performed with tumescent anesthesia and sedation. It may be performed under general anesthesia as well.

Post-Surgery Care

Recovery from liposuction surgery varies, but generally takes 1-6 weeks. You will have dressings and compression garments. The stitches are absorbable, and you can usually remove the dressings and shower a couple of days after surgery.
